John Harwick, MD, FAAOA, is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Harwick has been an assistant professor in the UF College of Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology since 2005, and since 2006 he has served as the medical director and supervising physician at UF Health’s Outpatient ENT Clinics.

In addition to his role at the UF Health Smell Disorders Program, Dr. Harwick practices at the UF Health Allergy, Sinus and Nasal Center, the UF Health Children’s Surgical Center and at UF Health ENT and Allergy.

Dr. Harwick practices both general and pediatric otolaryngology with a clinical specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea, snoring and respiratory allergies. Other clinical interests include smell disorders, hearing loss, balance disorders and vertigo.

In 2015, Dr. Harwick became the first University of Florida physician to surgically implant a pacemaker-like upper airway stimulation device – an alternative treatment for people who struggle with more common sleep apnea treatments such as using a CPAP device during sleep.

Dr. Harwick graduated from Temple University medical school in 1978 and stayed in Philadelphia to complete his residency in both otolaryngology and surgery at Temple University Hospital, finishing his training in 1983.

Before joining UF Health, Harwick spent 15 years as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at his alma mater, and has also worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA, DeSales University in Center Valley, PA, and the Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University.
